Maude Sauvage’s creations are based on a modular repetition: the circle - universal archetypal shape - and the semicircle - symbol of the bridge and of the window.

Maude Sauvage assembles these modular pieces – made of wood - together, in small and big sizes.

So this same module gives her the endless possibility to create and to discover new shapes, combining and assembling them together in every possible way.

The world of the trees - bridges between earth and heaven - is one of her sources of inspiration, by virtue of its symbolical and formal multiplicity.

Other spiritual inspirations such as mandalas and totems are equally close to her heart.

The connection between music and visual art means a lot for Maude Sauvage. Indeed, music often appears in her work as visual melodies or abstract musical written forms.
Since 2015, two of her creations („Partition“ and „Gnossienne“) have found their musical composition thanks to the musicians Stefano and Fabio Faggioni. For the exhibition „Bruit“ (Villa Dutoit, Visarte Genève, Geneva, 2015) the Faggioni Brothers inspired by Maude's visual piece „Partition“ created a musical composition in symbiosis with her work. „Gnossienne“ also found a new dimension through Stefano Faggioni's musical composition during the exhibition in Rome (Gallery Monogramma, Rome, July 2015). www.faggioni.org

The wood engraving series (Japanese Etching) are a reinterpretation of Maude Sauvage's earlier work related to the web – the spider web. The wood engraving therefore reflects the modular threedimensional compositions. The sculptural qualities appear in the etched picture where the colours are superimposed and play with the wood fibres.
Maude Sauvage has discovered a new approach to the wood with engraving.

The web
Dream-catcher or ambush ?
Strong or fragile ?
Everything hangs by a thread.
